To avoid engine and cylinder contamination, Head Exchange always keep our workshop clean and tidy.
Stripping and cleaning the motor
Head Exchange are now doing engines, every motor will be stripped down for cleaning, photos are taken of all wear and timing marks for future reference. The motor goes through the same cleaning process as the cylinder heads.
Boring and Honing
We send the motor offsite for boring and honing.
Grinding the Crankshaft
We send the Crankshaft offsite for grinding
Facing all blocks
All our engines have the block face remachined, to ensure you don’t have to deal with leaking or blown head gaskets later down the track.
Checking compression heights
Compression heights on modern motors are critical, all motors have piston heights checked and are machined to manufacture specifications.
Machining or replacing Precombustion Chambers
Some cylinder heads need to have Precombustion Chambers machined or replaced. We are one of the few Engine Reconditioners that are able to set Precups Heights.
Regrinding or replacing the crankshaft
Crankshafts are checked and either reground or replaced, Head Exchange will not fit a crankshaft ground to more than 0.020”.
Assembling the motor
The motor is now being assembled using angle torque gauge. All timing marks will be paint marked and photographed for future reference.
